We, a group of 9 Peace Corps trainees, are currently on our tech trip 2 hours outside of Quito. It’s the epitome of non-glamourous travel. OK, that was actually my sister and I sleeping on trains and looking for pizza from Slovenia to Ireland in 1997, but this was in the neighborhood. At least we had our share of weird, pizza, questionable hotel, and lack of sleep.

As should be expected, I miss my family. I consider the opportunity to miss family as a privilege, so the glass is half full.

This was the view from our PCV recommended hotel. It was an awkward moment when I figured out the key for room 208 worked equally well on room 108. Alas, the shower was cold.

We visited a museum full of taxidermy animals. And other items, strange and beautiful.
Finally, we did a lot of planning and teaching, but I don’t have a picture of that.

Your trip to the museum reminds me of a similar site we went to as children in some western state.. the mutant animals and assorted oddities makes one think the owner inherited from some old fashioned circus geek show. I hope yyou had a dresser to push up against the door at night or during cold showers… Your family misses you, as much as you miss warm showers!!

I really like to think that represented generations of mutated animals. If that’s the case my family must REALLY miss me! and I miss them and you.
